Saying goodbye to the peacocks after our Yoga Teacher Training at the Cortijo Casería del Mercado, Sierra Nevada, South Spain

Image
Did you know that peacocks are very social animals? The really like company! Our dining area outside on the terrace has a wide view over the garden and the mountains on the other side of the valley. We often sit there at the table under the roof of grapevines till late at night, laughing and chatting. As early as our first night, I noticed two little baby peacocks on the railing behid the table, all snuggeld up. I found them super sweet, just sitting there enjoying our company and joining us for a comfy night. From that day on, not a single night has passed without them watching the red-purple-orange sunset above the mountains and enjoying our conversations. It’s a beautiful picture and they are beautiful beings.   When I lie by the pool, writing blog entries or listening to music they also come and keep me company (as right now in this very moment!)   They just appear suddenly out of the bushes, lie down beside you, bask in the sun or pick some gr

Fredericks story

Every morning, my alarm clock goes off at 5:45 am. Each time, I feel very tired and wonder why I am doing this to myself. My morning routine consists of a quick shower and brushing my teeth before I leave the apartment. On my way to the Yoga Shala I am absolutely amazed by the wonderful starry sky. The lesson begins at 6.30am. Nobody is allowed to speak, so we all sit silently in a circle, crossed-legged on blankets. Candles in the center of our circle shed the only light in the room and it smells nice like incense sticks. Every day one of the students begins the lesson with a daily ritual. With the sound of a singing bowl, they start to read a short story, poem or other inspiring words for the day. After, Steve the teacher takes over to lead the Prana Yama practise and meditation.   One time, Kristina, a German student read a story which I found so cute and inspiring, that I would like to share it on my blog. It’s the story of Frederick, the little mouse which is a

Weekend hikes and walks in the Sierra Nevada, South Spain

Image
As I already mentioned the mountains around the farm "Cortijo Casería del Mercado" in the South Spanish Sierra Nevada are stunning! That's why the second evening after dinner, I went straight for a little walk on a walking track just across the street. As I entered the gravel path, suddenly the little farm dog Gisper appeared next to me. I said hello to her and thought she would go back to her home across the street soon, but she kept following me. That was sooo cute! As I turned around again to see if she was still following me, another dog had appeared. Now, I had two dogs following me: one of the huge sheperd dogs Samson and the little Gisper. I gave both a big cuddle and went on. They came with me. It was a very hot evening but the sun was already starting to set behind the beautiful mountain tops. We walked past olive trees, almond trees, grapes and fig trees. The track was pretty steep and after a while it just ended between some fields, close to th

Coming back to Spain

On Monday the 30st of August 2017 I left Kassel to visit my friend Caro in Düsseldorf before flying from Colone to Spain. Unfortunately my Flixbus arrived with two hours delay and as it wasn't enough the driver told us that he had already reached his limit of permitted working hours, so he brought us only to Dortmund. From there I had to take a train to Düsseldorf. Finally at around midnight I arrived at Caros beautiful place. The next day we spend some more time together before I went to Colone. It was a beautiful day and I walked along the river Rhein to the city center to take a lift to Colone. A little later, my friend Nine picked me up in Ehrenfeld, Colone. We had a wonderful last evening together with Chinese food and Yoga. Wednesday was the big day for me. After a day full of preparations for the trip Nine came to the airport with me. We found a quiet corner to  sing and play a last Ukulele song together, then, after some warm hugs I entered the security check ar
